Kentucky Angus Auxiliary
BY-LAWS
The name of the organization shall be the Kentucky Angus Auxiliary. The purpose of the organization is to promote the Angus breed, to provide educational opportunities and to support the Kentucky Angus Association and the Kentucky Junior Angus Association.
Members
Any Kentucky resident interested in the Angus breed may become an active member by paying annual dues by January of each calendar year.
Officers
The majority voting at the Annual Meeting shall elect the officers as President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer. Each officer shall serve a two year term.
The President shall fulfill the following duties:
a) Shall preside at all meetings.
b) Shall appoint standing committees.
c) Shall appoint special committees as needed.
The Vice-President shall fulfill the following duties:
a) Shall serve in the absence of the President.
b) Shall distribute information concerning Kentucky Angus Auxiliary activities and coordinate the publication of same with Kentucky Angus Association mailings.
c) Shall obtain American Angus Auxiliary achievement awards and present them to Kentucky Angus Juniors at the Kentucky Angus Association annual banquet.
The Secretary shall fulfill the following duties:
a) Shall keep an accurate record of all meetings.
b) Shall send the names and addresses of the officers of the Kentucky Angus Auxiliary to the American Angus Auxiliary president.
c) Shall maintain membership committee.
The Treasurer shall fulfill the following duties:
a) Shall collect the dues of the Kentucky Angus Auxiliary.
b) Dues shall be determined by vote of the membership.
c) Shall maintain the membership files.
d) Shall collect dues to the American Angus Auxiliary and transmit the same along with the names and addresses to the membership chairman of the American Angus Auxiliary.
Meetings
The Annual Meeting of the Kentucky Angus Auxiliary shall be held on the day of the Annual Meeting of the Kentucky Angus Association.
An open meeting may be held at the Kentucky Preview Show.
Other meetings may be called by the President provided that the membership is notified 10 days in advance of the meeting.
Committees
The following standing committees are deemed as necessary to facilitate the work of the Kentucky Angus Auxiliary:
Scholarship Committee
a) The duty of the scholarship committee is to conduct the scholarship contest. The chairman should be aware of the deadline for submitting applications to the American Angus Auxiliary.
b) No scholarship shall be awarded to an immediate family member of the scholarship committee.
c) Scholarship contestants must be Kentucky residents and must have been members of the Kentucky Junior Angus Association for one year.
Queen Committee
The Queen committee is responsible for the selection of the Kentucky Angus Queen.
Education Committee
a) The education committee is responsible for encouraging Kentucky Juniors to participate in the educational contest held at the National Junior Angus Show.
b) The committee should provide information on and encourage Kentucky Juniors to apply for the many awards and scholarships available through the Angus Association.
Nominating Committee
a) The nominating committee shall prepare a slate of officers to present to the membership at the Annual Meeting. The election shall be by ballot and a majority of the votes cast shall be necessary to elect.
Amendments
These BY-LAWS may be amended by 2/3 vote of those attending the Annual Meeting.
